(2010). In 2013, she started writing and producing music for other people.

Trainor’s major-label first studio album, Title, was published in 2015, and it debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. It featured the top-10 songs “Lips Are Movin” and “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.” The single “No” was the lead single off her follow-up album, Thank You (2016), an R&B album that also charted at number three. Treat Myself (2020), Trainor’s third album with Epic, is influenced by electronic dance music. Later that year, she released A Very Trainor Christmas, which was a holiday CD.

Meghan Elizabeth Trainor, the daughter of jewellers Kelli and Gary Trainor, was born on December 22, 1993, in Nantucket, Massachusetts.  She has two brothers: Ryan, her older brother, and Justin, her younger brother.  She started singing alongside her father, a music instructor and organist, at a Methodist church when she was six years old.

Trainor’s family supported her to follow her musical ambitions, and she told her father that she wanted to be a recording artist. She started writing songs and recording them on GarageBand, a digital audio workstation.  Trainor began by performing her own version of “Heart and Soul,” which she wrote herself (1938).

Trainor “did a lot [of] playing by ear,” according to her mother, and had no professional instruction in music.  Her father encouraged her to listen to many kinds of music. Trainor began playing with her aunt, younger brother, and father in the cover band Island Fusion when she was 12 years old. Trainor’s own songs were performed alongside soca music.

She sang and played piano, guitar, and bongo drums for four years with the band.  In bars, they’d perform Bob Marley versions and even open for Jamaican artist Beenie Man. Trainor’s first original song, “Give Me a Chance,” was composed when she was 13 years old. Trainor and her family moved to North Eastham from Nantucket while she was in eighth grade.

She studied guitar, trumpet, sang in a jazz band, and was a replacement cheerleader at Nauset Regional High School. Trainor’s parents encouraged her to attend songwriting conventions, which took her to locations where production firms were looking for fresh performers and composers when she was a teenager.

Johnny

Spampinato, a former member of the NRBQ, taught her how to play the guitar when she was 15 years old.  Trainor recorded and produced her tunes using Logic Studio during this time, and afterwards worked independently in a home studio built by her parents. Trainor’s track “Just Got Paid,” featuring American rapper French Montana, was released in cooperation with Sigala and Ella Eyre.

The song charted at number 11 in the UK, number 7 in Scotland, and number 12 in Ireland.  Later that year, Trainor and Sean Paul remixed CNCO’s song “Hey DJ.” On November 22, 2018, Trainor performed at a Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins game to kick off The Salvation Army’s 128th annual Red Kettle Campaign.

Treat Myself was originally set to be launched in January 2019, but it was not until January 31, 2020 that it was finally released.  In February of this year, “All the Ways” was released as a single on hot adult contemporary radio.  Trainor also released The Love Train that month, which featured the song “All the Ways” and was marketed through music videos.

She performed at the 2019 Los Angeles Pride celebration with Years & Years as a headliner. The songs “Badass Woman” and “Run Like the River” were written by Trainor for the 2019 films The Hustle and Playmobil: The Movie, respectively. In Playmobil: The Movie, she also voiced a fairy godmother.

Trainor was named as a coach for The Voice UK’s ninth season, which will broadcast in 2020, alongside will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, and Olly Murs in September 2019. On September 27, 2019, she released “Wave” as the album’s second single. The promotional singles “Workin’ On It,” “Evil Twin,” and “Blink” were used to help promote the album.

While striving to adapt to new trends in the music industry, Trainor wrote enough material for four albums.  Treat Myself, along with its third single “Nice to Meet Ya,” which includes Nicki Minaj, was released on January 31, 2020 to mixed reviews, earning a Metacritic score of 51 based on four reviews.

Treat Myself debuted at number 25 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, and “Nice to Meet Ya” debuted at number 89 on the Billboard Hot 100.  In July 2020, Trainor released a deluxe edition of the album, which featured the single “Make You Dance” (2020). On October 30, 2020, she released A Very Trainor Christmas, her first holiday album.

She inked a multi-year deal with NBCUniversal in March 2021, which includes a comedy series in which she would appear. Womanhood, body image, and personal empowerment are all themes in Trainor’s songs.  Trainor began writing “more inclusive” songs on body acceptance after getting backlash for the lyrics of “All About That Bass,” according to Billboard’s Ashley Lee, noting “Me Too” and the Thank You song “Woman Up” (2016) as examples.

Heartbreak, one-night stands, relationships, and sex are all themes explored on the album Title. Trainor continued to sell a “myopic, manufactured form of feminism” with Thank You, according to Alexa Camp of Slant Magazine. Trainor used empowerment as a lyrical motif in Treat Myself, as well as continuing the feminism concept in the lyrics, which was criticised by Jessica Brant of PopMatters.

Trainor’s voice has been described as “soulful” and “very resonant,” as well as “a reedy mix” between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. Trainor is “a really capable singer,” according to Stereogum’s Chris DeVille, who says she “project[s] tonnes of character and emotion within a pretty limited range.”

James Cowan compared Trainor’s harmonies to those of 1960s female ensembles in an article for Canadian Business. Carvell Wallace of MTV News wrote that the singer has charismatic vocals, that her relatability is part of her appeal, and that one can “imagine a drunken bachelorette party in the back of a rented stretch Hummer having a transcendent sing-along to in the back of a rented stretch Hummer.”

Trainor’s use of African-American English was also a source of contention for him.  Trainor has claimed that her accent is a “Gary Trainor thing,” and that her father is “very soulful” and occasionally imitates Brown. Trainor was named “Most Unlikely Pop Star” by Rolling Stone in 2014.

According to Andrew Hampp of Billboard, Trainor has “become a paradigm of self-acceptance for youth all around the world” since the publication of “All About That Bass.” Trainor has been dubbed “the poster girl for the larger woman” and “pop’s icon for self-acceptance” by Caroline Sullivan of The Guardian.

She was named on Billboard’s list of “14 Musicians With Body Positive Messages”,and MTV Australia remarked that she has “always stood out for what she believes in and strived to promote body acceptance for all women.”  Trainor joined plus-size store FullBeauty Brands as a consultant for the development of apparel for women of various body shapes in March 2015.

Trainor’s image is defined by her “curves,” according to Jada Yuan of Billboard. She is not “curvy” like Nicki Minaj and Kim Kardashian, but “she’s not model-thin like many other stars,” she says.  “Upbeat to goofy, with minimal soul baring or soapbox lecturing,” the author said of Trainor’s usage of social media.

Trainor has been labelled anti-feminist by certain detractors who claim she seeks self-worth based on men’s judgments. In a 2014 Billboard interview, Trainor did not identify as a feminist, but she had altered her mind two years later. Trainor stated in a 2020 interview that she was “just… stupid and young,” that she did not identify as a feminist because of her mother’s advice that she should not claim to be anything if she did not understand the word, and that feminists were “those people who hate [her],” and that she believed feminists were “those people who hate .

Trainor met actor Daryl Sabara at a Los Angeles house party in 2014 and started dating him in July 2016. On December 22, 2017, the couple got engaged[166] and married on Trainor’s 25th birthday a year later.  Trainor announced on The Today Show on October 7, 2020, that she and Sabara were expecting their first child together, and then confirmed her pregnancy with a baby boy on The Kelly Clarkson Show later that month. Riley, her first child, was born in February 2021.
