After The Fourth World’s financial failure, the band regrouped in 2001 as Maroon 5, with James Valentine replacing Levine as guitarist.
Songs About Jane, their debut album, went multi-platinum in the United States in 2002; since then, they’ve produced six more albums: It Won’t Be Soon Before Long (2007), Hands All Over (2010), Overexposed (2012), V (pronounced: “five”) (2014), Red Pill Blues (2017), and Jordi (2017). (2021).

His club took home the titles in the first, fifth, and ninth seasons.
In the second season of the television series American Horror Story, Levine made his acting debut as recurring character Leo Morrison in 2012. Begin Again (2013), Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016), Fun Mom Dinner, and The Clapper were among Levine’s other cinematic appearances (both 2017).
In 2013, Levine debuted his own perfume brand. In the same year, he developed his menswear collection in collaboration with Kmart and ShopYourWay.com. He also owns 222 Records, a record label, and 222 Productions, a production business that created the television series Sugar and Songland.

Fredric retail chain, and Patsy (née Noah), an admissions counsellor, and was born in Los Angeles.
When he was seven years old, they divorced, and Levine went to counselling. He grew up with his mother throughout the week and his father on weekends. He has a brother named Michael, two half-siblings named Sam and Liza Levine, as well as a step-sister named Julia Bartolf Milne.
His father and maternal grandfather were both Jews, whereas his maternal grandmother was a Protestant. Levine identifies as Jewish; yet, The Jewish Chronicle reports that he is spiritual but not religious. He opted out of having a Bar Mitzvah as a child due to the custom of getting Bar Mitzvah gifts, noting, “I felt as though a lot of kids were attempting to cash in… I simply do not believe that is the most respectful way to deal with God, beliefs, and centuries of cultural tradition.”
Timothy Noah, a journalist, and Peter Noah, a television producer and writer, are both nephews of Levine. Levine credits his mother with “start[ing] me off on the journey” and characterises his family as “extremely musical”. He also credits his musical approach to his mother’s idols, Simon & Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac, and The Beatles, who he describes as “a significant part of my upbringing.”
In 1995, Levine performed vocals and guitar at the Whisky a Go Go, a nightclub in West Hollywood, California. Tommy Allen, an independent producer, discovered the band while they were performing in Malibu and had them record an 11-track album with his colleague John DeNicola.
They got signed to Reprise Records through producer Rob Cavallo after a number of industry showcases in Los Angeles. The band published their first album, The Fourth World, in August 1997, and they also appeared on an episode of the drama series Beverly Hills, 90210. Despite high anticipation, it only sold around 5,000 copies, despite high expectations.
Following Cavallo’s departure from Reprise, the band was dropped. The band split up after being dissatisfied with the album’s results. “Kara’s Flowers was just drifting up the wall beneath the sticks,” Levine would later recall of the encounter. Make a brief recording and release it.
There isn’t even a tourist base. It doesn’t work if you try to make it happen right away.” Maroon 5’s fifth studio album V was released in 2014, and it featured Ryan Tedder, Max Martin, and others (pronounced: “five”). “We established a really beautiful system on the last record — we discovered songs we were enthusiastic about, developed them, and put our stamp on them […] this time we kept it going but looked for other types of songs,” Levine said, referring to the song-writing approach they undertook with Overexposed.
It spawned a total of five singles. The band embarked on the Maroon V Tour to promote the album, which began in February 2015 with a performance in Dallas. In 2007, Levine indicated that Maroon 5 had reached their pinnacle and that they might release one more album before disbanding.
“Eventually I want to focus on being a completely new person because I’m not sure if I want to do this into my 40s, 50s, and beyond,” he was quoted as saying. But, in 2010, he debunked rumours that the band was disbanding, saying, “I enjoy what I do and think that, yes, it may be exhausting and complicated at times [but] we don’t have any intentions to disband any time soon.”
He has also ruled out a solo career, declaring that “a solo record will never be made.” I’d rather be in a different group.” For his services to the music industry, Levine was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 10, 2017. In 2013, Levine collaborated on a song called “My Most Terrible Secret” with playwright Gene Hong, which was performed by the Community cast in the episode “Intro to Felt Surrogacy.”
Rozzi Crane’s song “Painkiller” and the R. City duo’s track “Locked Away” both included Levine in 2015. In 2016, Levine teamed with The Lonely Island on the song “I’m So Humble,” which was included on the soundtrack album Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, and in the film of the same name.
In April 2019, Levine was featured among 29 other musicians on the charity single “Earth,” which promotes climate change awareness. In late 2019, Levine teamed with American actor and musician Joe Pesci on his third album Pesci… Still Singing, which featured two songs, “Baby Girl” and a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “My Cherie Amour,” on his third album Pesci… Still Singing.
In 2020, Levine appeared on two tracks on rapper Lil Wayne’s album Funeral: “Trust Nobody” and “Same Guy” by Jack Harlow’s album Thats What They All Say.In the music rhythm game Band Hero, Levine also appears as a singer for his band’s song “She Will Be Loved.” “Lost Stars” in Begin Again and “Go Now” in Sing Street are two songs written by Levine for the soundtracks of John Carney’s films. To create his debut eponymous scent, Levine teamed with ID Perfumes.
In February 2013, the collection was introduced at the Los Angeles Premiere Fragrance Installation. Macy’s department shops sell the fragrance line in microphone-shaped bottles, which includes smells for both men and women. “The objective was to develop something that I would wear,” Levine remarked at the event’s debut. So it was a process, and we finally arrived at a wonderful ending, and it smells fantastic.”
The scent drew media attention because it contradicted his tweet from the previous year, in which he stated that he wished to “officially outlaw celebrity fragrances.” From now on, you will be punished with death.” Levine stated in January 2020 that he will be the new Shure Ambassador for the Aonic 215 and 50 wireless earphones and headphones, which will be available on April 2, 2020 in electronic retailers.
Levine met Russian Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover-model Anne Vyalitsyna during a performance at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue release party in Las Vegas in early 2010. They got together and started dating. In April 2012, they “amicably and supportively” ended their relationship.
Behati Prinsloo, a Namibian Victoria’s Secret model, and Levine started dating in May 2012. Jonah Hill officiated the couple’s wedding on July 19, 2014. Dusty Rose (born September 21, 2016) and Gio Grace Prinsloo are Levine and Prinsloo’s two daughters (born February 15, 2018).
Levine supports same-sex marriage and LGBT rights because his brother Michael is gay. In support of the It Gets Better Project, he posted a video on Maroon 5’s official YouTube account in 2011. He announced in January 2012 that Maroon 5 had moved their post-Grammy Awards event due to the “unnamed Los Angeles restaurant’s support of Proposition 8.”
In 2013, an unnamed security guard claimed that Universal Music Publishing Group’s Santa Monica office was “infiltrated with pervasive drug use where you could smell marijuana seeping from various offices and openly used in common areas, and lounges,” according to a hostile work environment lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by an unnamed security guard.
When the guard protested about the cannabis smoke coming from one of the studios, she claimed she was told that “it’s Adam Levine… if he wants to come to the lobby and do a line of cocaine on the floor, it’s OK.” UMPG (Universal Music Publishing Group) said the charges were “absurd” in an official statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
Levine and Prinsloo teamed up with Ferrari and Save the Children in July 2020 to collect money for COVID-19 pandemic education programmes in the United States. Levine and Prinsloo created the Calirosa tequila firm in 2021, and the brand’s tequila bottles will be released in December of that year.
