Carrie Marie Underwood is a singer and songwriter from the United States. She was born on March 10, 1983. In 2005, she won the fourth season of American Idol, which catapulted her to stardom. With her debut hit, “Inside Your Heaven,” Underwood became the first and only solo country artist to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the 2000s.

Some Hearts (2005) became the best-selling solo female debut album in country music history, thanks to the successful crossover singles “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “Before He Cheats.” For the album, she received three Grammy Awards, including one for Best New Artist. Carnival Ride (2007), her next studio album, had one of the best first weeks of any female artist in history and was nominated for two Grammy Awards.

Storyteller (2015), her fifth studio album, made her the first and only country singer to have all of her studio albums chart at number one or two on the Billboard 200 chart. With her sixth album, Cry Pretty (2018), she became the first woman to have four country albums chart at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and she had the best week of any woman’s album in 2018. In 2020, she released My Gift, her first Christmas album, and in 2021, she released My Savior, her first gospel album.

Over 70 million recordings have been sold globally by Underwood. She has the most number-one entries on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, with 16, and is the sixth highest-certified female artist and the highest-certified female country artist of all time on the RIAA’s Top Artists (Digital Singles) ranking.


Seven Grammy Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards, 17 American Music Awards, five Guinness World Records, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards, and inductions into the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry are among her many accomplishments. Some Hearts was chosen the best country album of the 2000s by Billboard, and she was named the best female country artist of the 2000s and 2010s by Billboard.

In 2014, Time named her one of the world’s 100 most powerful people, and Forbes named her the most successful American Idol winner. Underwood was nominated for two awards at the 54th Annual Country Music Association Awards, including Entertainer of the Year for the third time. When the CMT Music Honors broadcast live on October 21, Underwood broke her own record for most victories in the show’s history, winning two awards, including Video of the Year.

Underwood’s own Apple Radio show, XO Radio, debuted in August 2020. On September 25, 2020, she released her first Christmas album, My Gift. It was her ninth consecutive number-one album on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, as well as the Top Christian Albums and Top Holiday Albums charts, and the Billboard 200.

On the Billboard 200, the album reached number five.  Underwood starred in and executive produced a holiday special showing on HBO Max on December 3, 2020, in which she sang all of My Gift’s songs. On April 15, Underwood and Bisbal performed the song for the first time on television at the Latin American Music Awards in Sunrise, Florida; the duo was nominated for Favorite Video of the Year. Underwood received a nomination for Video of the Year for “Hallelujah” alongside John Legend at the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards, where she performed a medley of songs from My Savior with CeCe Winans as a guest.

In conjunction with Resorts World Las Vegas, Underwood’s Las Vegas residency, Reflection, will debut in December 2021.Due to popular demand, Underwood’s residency has been extended until April 2022. For the soundtrack album of the 2021 film adaption of Dear Evan Hansen, Underwood joined with Dan + Shay on a cover of “Only Us,” which was released as a single on September 3, 2021.

She also collaborated with Jason Aldean on the duet track “If I Didn’t Love You,” her third of the year. Billboard’s Country Airplay chart saw the tune spend two weeks at the top.  At the 55th annual Country Music Association Awards, where Underwood was nominated for Entertainer of the Year, the pair performed the song live on television for the first time.

Underwood added two additional victories to her tally at the American Music Awards on November 21, making her one of the show’s most-awarded performers. At the event, she and Aldean reprised their duet. Underwood was the closing headliner at Nashville’s CMA Summer Jam in July, which featured a performance with Dwight Yoakam and aired in September to replace the cancelled CMA Music Fest.

Underwood released “Stretchy Pants” in November as a satirical holiday song to help The Store, a Nashville-based organisation that provides free shopping to needy families. She was also revealed as the star of ABC’s CMA Country Christmas special, which will premiere on November 29.

She sang “Favorite Time of Year” live from Nashville during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 25.  Underwood was one of numerous artists at the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lighting ceremony on December 1st. Since 2013, Carrie Underwood has performed the NBC Sunday Night Football opening theme song. Faith Hill, who replaced Underwood, later congratulated her on Twitter, saying that NBC/SNF made a “amazing choice” in choosing her and that she “will rock it.” For the 2018 NFL season, Underwood’s original song was replaced with an original song, “Game On,” which was a variation of her song “Oh, Sunday Night.” She performed the National Anthem for the Nashville Predators in Game 3 of the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Chicago Blackhawks and Game 2 of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Winnipeg Jets.
