Thomas DeCarlo Callaway (born May 30, 1975) is an American singer, rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur better known by his stage name CeeLo Green (or Cee Lo Green). He is most recognised for his soul music work, which includes the popular singles “Crazy” and “Fuck You.” Green rose to notoriety as a member of the Southern hip hop group Goodie Mob.

Following that, he embarked on a solo career, releasing two albums on Arista Records: Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections (2002) and Cee-Lo Green… Is the Soul Machine (2005). (2004).Gnarls Barkley was Green’s next endeavour, a partnership with DJ Danger Mouse. “Crazy” was a worldwide smash for the duo in 2006, reaching the top five in twenty countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom.

Green released two albums with Gnarls Barkley: the platinum-selling St. Elsewhere in 2006 and The Odd Couple in 2008. Green’s solo career continued in 2010 with the release of The Lady Killer, which included his biggest solo hit, “Fuck You.” The song entered the top 10 in thirteen countries and reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100.

Green went on to release three more solo albums, Cee Lo’s Magic Moment (2012), Heart Blanche (2015), and CeeLo Green Is Thomas Callaway, as well as two reunion albums with Goodie Mob, Age Against the Machine (2014) and Survival Kit (2015). (2020).Green was a judge and coach on the American reality television singing competition The Voice from 2011 to 2014, appearing on four seasons of the show.


He portrayed Murray the Mummy in the 2012 animated blockbuster Hotel Transylvania, and has also acted in a number of television shows and films, including his own TBS comedy, CeeLo Green’s The Good Life. Green has starred in ads for brands such as 7 Up, Duracell, M&M’s, and TYKU sake. Five Grammy Awards, a BET Award, a Billboard Award, and a Brit Award have all been given to his work. Green was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 30, 1975.

He went to Riverside Military Academy, a boarding institution for males in Gainesville, Georgia, for high school.His parents were both ordained ministers, and he began his musical career in a church. Green’s father died while he was only two years old. Sheila J. Tyler-Callaway, a fireman, was his mother.  was disabled in a vehicle accident when he was 16 years old and died in 1993 when he was 18 years old.

Green’s career with Goodie Mob had just began to take off at the time of his mother’s death. He fell into a profound despair, which he later wrote about in songs such as Goodie Mob’s “Free,” St. Elsewhere’s “Just a Thought,” and The Odd Couple’s “She Knows” and “A Little Better.”  Green also wrote about his mother in the Goodie Mob’s album Soul Food song “Guess Who.

Green said that his mother’s death was a defining moment that led him to “crossing that threshold over into a career” in an excerpt from CeeLo Distilled, a documentary produced by Absolut and The Fader. Green was one of the coaches for contestants on seasons 1 through 3 of the singing TV show The Voice.  After the sixth season, he stepped down as a coach.

Green made a guest appearance in the episode “Tales From the Luncheonette” of the NBC series Parenthood on October 11, 2011.Green made an appearance at WWE SummerSlam on August 14, 2011, where he played “‘Bright Lights Bigger City,” the event’s official theme song, as well as his hit “Forget You.” Green had a live-action/voice appearance and voiced a hot tub in the American Dad! episode “Hot Water” on September 25, 2011.


Green joined Madonna in the Super Bowl halftime show the following year, on February 5. He was nominated for the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards on March 31, 2012. On August 8, that year, he appeared in the TV Land sitcom The Soul Man as J.C. Carpenter in the episode “J.C. Carpenter’s Gospel Show.” He made a guest appearance in the Nickelodeon show How to Rock in the episode “How to Rock Cee Lo” ten days later. Green’s new reality-based docu-comedy television series CeeLo Green’s The Good Life, in which he stars alongside the other members of the Goodie Mob, premiered on TBS on June 23, 2014. TBS announced on September 2, 2014 that the show would be cancelled due to Green’s controversial comments about the nature of rape.

Green was chastised for tweets on his sexual battery case on August 31, 2014. “People who have genuinely been raped REMEMBER!!!” and “If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously!” were two of his explicit tweets about rape. As a result, “WITH” denotes “consent.”

He momentarily deactivated his Twitter account after tweeting many messages about rape. He reactivated it a few hours later, issuing an apology: “I really and deeply apologise for the words attributed to me on Twitter.” Those remarks were foolish, incorrect, and contrary to my beliefs.”
