It was re-released in 2014, with two new tracks added to the mix. The album was originally released in 2007. In his interview with AMC, Kinney discusses the historical context of the album, and the following are some excerpts from his conversation: “The story of my life is told in the song “Expired Love,” which was written about it.

Although I believe that my acting career has given me the opportunity to incorporate my personal style into my professional life, I do not believe this is the case. My songs are mini-stories, similar to Tom Waits’ music, that are brought to life by musical accompaniment. An entire song can be inspired by a single word or emotion that keeps resurfacing in one’s mind over and over again. In light of the fact that this will be my first time playing a character for an extended period of time, I anticipate that it will inexorably seep its way into the storyline. Take into consideration the fact that we have to deal with this issue on a regular basis on the show. Perhaps it is for this reason that a particular thought keeps coming to me.”

‘Rockstar’, Kinney’s most recent single, was released on the 9th of December, 2014, and is currently available for purchase through iTunes.
