Matthew Steven LeBlanc (/lblk/) is an American actor, comedian, and television producer. He was born on July 25, 1967. His depiction of Joey Tribbiani in the NBC comedy Friends and its spin-off series Joey earned him international acclaim. Three Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were given to LeBlanc for his performance on Friends. In the town of Newton, Massachusetts, LeBlanc was born. Patricia (née Di Cillo) worked as an office manager, while Paul LeBlanc, a French-Canadian mechanic, worked as his father.

His father is French-Canadian, and his mother is Italian.Despite the fact that it has been widely assumed that LeBlanc speaks French as a result of his ancestry, he has stated in interviews with French media that he does not. He went to Newton North High School and graduated the same year as Louis C.K., the future comedian.


He went to Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston for college after graduating from high school. Soon after beginning his second semester, he dropped out.  LeBlanc first to fame as Joey Tribbiani on Friends, where he played the dimwitted yet charming character for 12 years — 10 seasons on Friends and two seasons on Joey. Friends was a huge hit, and LeBlanc (together with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox-Arquette, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer) became well-known. For eleven years, NBC broadcasted this ensemble situation comedy, which was a tremendous smash.

Three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, three Golden Globe nominations, and one Screen Actors Guild Award nomination were all given to LeBlanc for his performance. He also starred in the films Lookin’ Italian (1994), Ed (1996), Lost in Space (1998), Charlie’s Angels (2000), and its sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, during this time (2003). In a 1987 Heinz Tomato Ketchup advertisement, LeBlanc made his first appearance.

For one season in 1988, he appeared in the TV drama TV 101. He had a recurrent appearance on Married… with Children, a hit Fox sitcom, in 1991. He portrayed Vinnie Verducci, a family friend of protagonist Al Bundy (Ed O’Neill) who dates his daughter, Kelly, for a little period (Christina Applegate). In the first season of Red Shoe Diaries, he appeared as a guest star. Top of the Heap (1991) and Vinnie & Bobby (1992) were both short-lived Married… with Children spin-offs starring LeBlanc (1992).

He

participated in two Bon Jovi music videos, “Miracle” from the Young Guns II soundtrack in 1990 and “Say It Isn’t So” from the Say It Isn’t So soundtrack in 2000. He also had cameo appearances in the videos for Alanis Morissette’s “Walk Away,” Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ “Into the Great Wide Open,” and Bob Seger’s “Night Moves.” At the age of 17, LeBlanc came to New York to pursue a modelling career, but was informed he was too short. After a woman persuaded him to accompany her to an audition, he was signed by her manager.

 

He was reportedly down to his last eleven dollars before earning the role of Joey Tribbiani on Friends, despite having secured commercials, television and film roles prior. Episodes, a television series about an American copy of a fictional British television series, starred LeBlanc as a fictionalised version of himself starting in 2011. David Crane and his collaborator Jeffrey Klarik, who co-created Friends, are writing the project.  LeBlanc was nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards and won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series, Musical, or Comedy at the 69th Golden Globe Awards in 2012.

In February 2012, LeBlanc participated in the second episode of the eighth series of Top Gear, driving a Kia Cee’d and setting the quickest lap time in the “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car” segment. He defeated the previous show record-holder, Rowan Atkinson, by 0.1 seconds, with a lap time of 1:42.1. He also raced the New Kia Cee’d in the fourth episode of the nineteenth season, beating his previous time.LeBlanc was revealed as one of the new Top Gear hosts by the BBC in February 2016, and later that year he signed a two-year contract.


After three years as a co-host, he announced his departure from the show in May 2018. Despite the fact that the programme is “a lot of fun,” he claims that the “time commitment and considerable travel keeps me away from my family and friends more than I’m comfortable with.” LeBlanc starred in the CBS sitcom Man with a Plan, which aired from 2016 until 2020 before being cancelled.Le Blanc has a long history with automobiles and previously worked as a carpenter.

In May 2003, he married Melissa McKnight, a divorced single mother with two children who was born in the United Kingdom.  Kelly Phillips, a friend of McKnight’s, was the one who introduced them in 1997. (wife of actor Lou Diamond Phillips). A year later, LeBlanc proposed. Marina, their 2004 daughter, started having seizures at the age of eight months. The problem, which was assumed to be dysplasia, had mostly decreased by the time she was two years old.  In October 2006, LeBlanc and McKnight divorced, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation.
