After three days of sales, Bublé’s album Crazy Love arrived at number one on the US Billboard 200, where it stayed for two weeks.
On Billboard’s Top Jazz Albums chart, it was also his fourth number one album. Christmas, his 2011 holiday album, spent five weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, including the last four weeks of 2011 and the first week of 2012. It also charted in the UK’s top five. Christmas was his third number-one album in a row. In April 2013, To Be Loved was released, followed by Nobody But Me in October 2016, and Love in November 2018. Bublé has sold over 75 million albums worldwide and has received numerous accolades, including four Grammy Awards and multiple Juno Awards.
Bublé holds dual Canadian and Italian citizenship. Michael Steven Bublé is a Canadian singer-songwriter who was born in the city of Burnaby in the province of British Columbia. Lewis Bublé was born on September 9, 1975, in Trogir, Croatia, to Amber (née Santaga), a fisherman of Croatian descent. Bublé’s ancestors came from Istria. “Some say we’re Yugoslavian, others say we’re Italian,” Bublé said of his family, who are originally from modern-day Croatia. Brandee, a children’s book author, and Crystal, an actress, are his two younger sisters.
He was raised as a Roman Catholic, as were his siblings. Seaforth Elementary School and Cariboo Hill Secondary School were both where he went to school. Bublé had dreamed of becoming a renowned singer since he was two, according to an Oprah Winfrey interview from October 9, 2009. He prayed to become a singer as a teenager while sleeping with his Bible. When his family listened Bing Crosby’s White Christmas album when he was just five years old, he became interested in jazz.
When Bublé was 13 years old, his family first discovered his singing talent when they heard him strongly sing the words “May your days be cheerful and bright” while singing “White Christmas” in the car. Bublé also has a tremendous affinity for ice hockey, and as a kid, he aspired to play professional hockey with the Vancouver Canucks, but he feared he wasn’t talented enough. “I had a strong desire to play ice hockey… I wouldn’t be singing right now if I was a terrific hockey player.”
“The most lethal physical job I’ll ever know in my lifetime,” he described the encounter. We’d be gone for two, sometimes three months at a time, and living and working among men twice my age taught me a lot about responsibility and what it meant to be a man. Bublé starred as a Drome Groupie in the 1996 television series Death Game (also known as Mortal Challenge). In 1996, he made an uncredited appearance as a member of a submarine crew in two episodes of The X-Files. His first appearance on national television was in Mark Glover Masterson’s award-winning Bravo! documentary Big Band Boom!, which aired in 1997.
He began appearing on Vicki Gabereau’s national chat show on the CTV network in 1997, and he has been a regular since since. The Vancouver-based show was broadcast live throughout its first season, which benefited Bublé. When a scheduled guest had to cancel, the show’s music producer frequently invited Bublé to fill in. Bublé’s appearances on Gabereau not only gave him a lot of visibility, but they also helped him develop his talents as a musician and an interview guest on television. Bublé, Jann Arden, and Elvis Costello all performed on Gabereau’s final gig in 2005 as a gesture of mutual respect.
In 2000, Bublé was nominated for two Genie Awards for Best Original Song for his songs “I’ve Never Been in Love Before” and “Dumb ol’ Heart,” both written for the film Here’s to Life! First Dance (1996), Babalu (2001), and Dream (2001) were his three solo albums (2002). Former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney’s adviser Michael McSweeney witnessed Bublé perform at a business party and was given a copy of Bublé’s self-financed independent record. Mulroney and his wife were given the record by McSweeney. Bublé was then requested to sing “Mack the Knife” by Kurt Weill at Mulroney’s daughter Caroline’s wedding.
Bublé met David Foster, a multi-Grammy Award-winning producer and record executive who has previously worked with Madonna, Brandy Norwood, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Céline Dion, Barbra Streisand, Kenny G, Cher, Josh Groban, and Andrea Bocelli, during the wedding. On February 11, 2003, 143 Records/Reprise Records released Michael Bublé’s self-titled debut album. “Fever,” “The Way You Look Tonight,” “For Once in My Life,” “Moondance,” and “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” are among the album’s many staples from many decades.
“How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?” is also on the album, featuring backing vocals by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees. The album charted in the top ten in Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Australia, where it debuted at number one. The ARIA Top 100 Albums of 2003 ranked it at No. 33. On February 15, 2005, 143/Reprise Records released Bublé’s second studio album, It’s Time. “You Don’t Know Me,” “Feeling Good,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Save the Last Dance for Me,” “Song for You,” and “Quando, Quando, Quando” were among the many standards included on the CD (a duet with Canadian pop singer Nelly Furtado). Bublé, his musical director Alan Chang, and Amy Foster-Gilles co-wrote the original track “Home.”
The album debuted at No. 1 in Canada, Italy, and Japan, as well as on the Billboard Top Jazz chart, and went on to No. 2 in Australia and No. 7 on the Billboard 200. In addition, the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, and Sweden all ranked in the top ten. The album spent a record-breaking 78 weeks at the top of the Billboard Top Jazz list. In both 2005 and 2006, It’s Time was named Billboard’s Top Jazz Album. “Feeling Good,” the band’s first single, was a commercial flop. The album’s second song, “Home,” went to No. 1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Tracks list and No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“Save the Last Dance for Me” was the third single, and it peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard AC Track Chart and No. 99 on the Billboard Hot 100. Bublé was previously engaged to Debbie Timuss, an actress who starred alongside him in the musicals Red Rock Diner in 1996 and Dean Regan’s Forever Swing in 1998. In Bublé’s self-titled album Michael Bublé and It’s Time, Timuss was listed as one of the dedicatees and sang backing vocals. He co-wrote the smash hit “Home” for her while in Italy. In the music video for “Home,” she was included.
He was motivated to compose “Lost” after their engagement ended in November 2005. Bublé met English actress Emily Blunt during his appearance at the 2005 Logie Awards in Australia, and the two started dating shortly after. Bublé wrote “Everything” specifically for her, and she provided backing vocals on “Me and Mrs. Jones.” Bublé started dating Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato after his relationship with Blunt ended in July 2008.
In November 2009, Bublé and Lopilato got engaged, and they married in Buenos Aires in March 2011. While they were dating, Bublé co-wrote the smash tune “Haven’t Met You Yet” for Lopilato, and she was featured in his music video. The couple has three children: two sons who were born in 2013 and 2016, and a daughter who was born in 2018. Hepatoblastoma, a cancer of the liver, was discovered in Bublé’s oldest kid in 2016.
After learning of his son’s cancer, the artist postponed his upcoming tour and spent time with him during chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In 2018, Bublé talked about it with James Corden, a British talk show presenter.Since then, Bublé’s son has healed completely. On November 16, 2018, his tenth studio album Love (written as the heart emoji) was released, with the lead song “When I Fall in Love” being released on September 27, 2018. In November, he announced that he would go on a tour in support of the album in 2019; the An Evening with Michael Bublé tour began on February 13, 2019 in Tampa. Bublé performed at the final of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing on December 15, 2018. Bublé will appear in a Super Bowl commercial for Bubly sparkling water, which was revealed on January 17, 2019.
