Since 2001, Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III (born June 5, 1979) has been the bassist and lyricist for the rock band Fall Out Boy. Wentz was the lead vocalist and songwriter for Arma Angelus, a metalcore band, prior to joining Fall Out Boy. He was a fixture of the Chicago hardcore scene before joining Fall Out Boy.

his father’s side, Wentz is of English and German ancestry, while on his mother’s side, he is Afro-Jamaican. Hillary, his younger sister, and Andrew, his younger brother, are both his siblings. He considered pursuing a professional career in the sport, but ultimately decided that music would be a more fulfilling option; he claims that he has a passion for music “The ball and I have always had a special bond. He began skipping school and smoking marijuana with friends during his freshman year of high school, but he eventually stopped because it was affecting his grades. He went to DePaul University to study political science after graduating from high school in 1997, but dropped out a quarter of the way through to concentrate on Fall Out Boy. Fall Out Boy and Project Rocket Split EP was released in 2002.

Fall Out Boy’s Evening Out with Your Girlfriend was released on Uprising Records shortly after, in 2003.  After the band’s third full-length album, From Under the Cork Tree, was released on the major label Island Records, this album was digitally remastered and reissued. Take This to Your Grave was released by Fueled By Ramen in 2003, and it was the band’s first full-length album.

In 2003, Fall Out Boy signed with Island Records and released My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue, an acoustic EP and DVD.In 2005, they released their third studio album, From Under the Cork Tree. Wentz collaborated with his father in Chicago to write the lyrics for the lead single, “Sugar, We’re Goin Down,” which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent months in the top 50, including five weeks in the top ten and fourteen weeks in the top 20.

The RIAA has certified both the band’s major label debut album and “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” as double platinum.Infinity on High, Fall Out Boy’s fourth album, was released to critical acclaim in 2007, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 260,000 sales, fueled by the lead single “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race,” which charted in the top ten in the US and UK and topped the charts in New Zealand.

“Thnks fr th Mmrs,” the second single, has sold over 2 million copies in the United States. Folie à Deux was the band’s fifth studio album, and it debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 on December 13, 2008. In support of their albums, the band toured extensively.The four members of the band announced their indefinite hiatus in November 2009, citing uncertainty about the band’s future.

Wentz has stated that he is taking a break because he believes his name and marriage to pop singer Ashlee Simpson has become a hindrance to the band. “I believe the world could use a little less Pete Wentz,” he continued. Fall Out Boy announced their comeback on February 4, 2013, along with an album and single to which all four members contributed.

Wentz was in charge of writing songs once more. The band released a new album, Save Rock and Roll, on April 12, 2013, which included the lead single My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up) as well as tour dates. On February 4th, the band performed in Chicago for the first time in over three years. The band’s fourth consecutive top 10 album, ‘Save Rock and Roll,’ reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 154,000 copies in its first week.

Wentz and Fall Out Boy toured extensively in support of the album in 2013 and 2014, selling out arenas all over the world and sharing the stage with bands like Paramore. PAX AM Days, a new EP recorded in a two-day session with producer Ryan Adams, was released in October of 2013.

American Beauty/American Psycho, the band’s sixth studio album, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 192,000 first-week sales and 218,000 equivalent album units, becoming the band’s third Billboard 200 No. 1 album.Centuries, a triple Platinum hit single, was released before the album. [36] On April 14, 2014, Uma Thurman’s single was released to mainstream radio, peaking at number 22 on the ‘Billboard’ Top 100, and was certified platinum in August 2015.

Young and Menace, the first single from Fall Out Boy’s seventh studio album, was released in April 2017.Mania, the band’s seventh studio album, was released on January 19, 2018, and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, marking the band’s third consecutive number one debut and fourth overall.

Fall Out Boy’s first headline show at a stadium was at Wrigley Field in Chicago in 2018, marking a watershed moment in the band’s career.Wentz began dating Ashlee Simpson, a pop singer, in 2006. Simpson and Wentz married on May 17, 2008, at Simpson’s parents’ home in Encino, Los Angeles, with her father officiating the ceremony.

She announced her pregnancy two weeks later. Her surname was changed from Simpson to Wentz, and she went by the name Ashlee Simpson-Wentz for a short time.  On November 20, 2008, Simpson and her husband welcomed a son into the world. Simpson filed for divorce on February 8, 2011, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation.

She requested joint physical custody of their son, as well as spousal support and visitation for Wentz. In a later report, Simpson stated that the couple “married too young,” adding, “It was honestly a classic case of marrying young, having a kid young, and growing apart over the years.”  Wentz is said to have been adamant about not getting married.  On November 22, 2011, they divorced.

Wentz and his current girlfriend Meagan Camper announced they were expecting their first child together, as well as Wentz’s second, on February 17, 2014.On August 20, 2014, their child was born.
