Since 2001, Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III (born June 5, 1979) has been the bassist and lyricist for the rock band Fall Out Boy. Wentz was the lead vocalist and songwriter for Arma Angelus, a metalcore band, prior to joining Fall Out Boy. He was a fixture of the Chicago hardcore scene before joining Fall Out Boy.

In 2003, Fall Out Boy signed with Island Records and released My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue, an acoustic EP and DVD.In 2005, they released their third studio album, From Under the Cork Tree. Wentz collaborated with his father in Chicago to write the lyrics for the lead single, “Sugar, We’re Goin Down,” which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent months in the top 50, including five weeks in the top ten and fourteen weeks in the top 20.
The RIAA has certified both the band’s major label debut album and “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” as double platinum.Infinity on High, Fall Out Boy’s fourth album, was released to critical acclaim in 2007, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 260,000 sales, fueled by the lead single “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race,” which charted in the top ten in the US and UK and topped the charts in New Zealand.
“Thnks fr th Mmrs,” the second single, has sold over 2 million copies in the United States. Folie à Deux was the band’s fifth studio album, and it debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 on December 13, 2008. In support of their albums, the band toured extensively.The four members of the band announced their indefinite hiatus in November 2009, citing uncertainty about the band’s future.
Wentz has stated that he is taking a break because he believes his name and marriage to pop singer Ashlee Simpson has become a hindrance to the band. “I believe the world could use a little less Pete Wentz,” he continued. Fall Out Boy announced their comeback on February 4, 2013, along with an album and single to which all four members contributed.
Wentz was in charge of writing songs once more. The band released a new album, Save Rock and Roll, on April 12, 2013, which included the lead single My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up) as well as tour dates. On February 4th, the band performed in Chicago for the first time in over three years. The band’s fourth consecutive top 10 album, ‘Save Rock and Roll,’ reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 154,000 copies in its first week.
Wentz and Fall Out Boy toured extensively in support of the album in 2013 and 2014, selling out arenas all over the world and sharing the stage with bands like Paramore. PAX AM Days, a new EP recorded in a two-day session with producer Ryan Adams, was released in October of 2013.

Simpson and Wentz married on May 17, 2008, at Simpson’s parents’ home in Encino, Los Angeles, with her father officiating the ceremony.
