Jayceon Terrell Taylor (November 29, 1979) is an American rapper who goes by the stage name the Game or just Game. He began his career under the tutelage of fellow West Coast rapper JT the Bigga Figga, releasing a series of mixtapes. He was found by Dr. Dre and signed to his Aftermath Records label imprint after releasing his debut independent album Untold Story in 2004.
The Documentary, The Game’s major-label first album, launched him to popularity in 2005, and his follow-up Doctor’s Advocate, released in 2006, extended his success. In March 2005, The Documentary was certified Double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
The Game was a rising musician in the 2000s who was credited for reviving the West Coast hip hop culture and battling with several of his East Coast peers. Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine teamed up to put The Game in G-Unit. Due to his differences with 50 Cent, Game left Aftermath in the summer of 2006 and signed with Geffen, another label under Universal’s Interscope Geffen A&M division, to end his contract with G-Unit.
Doctor’s Advocate, The Game’s second major label album, was released on November 14, 2006, and was his second album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. Dr. Dre’s contribution to Doctor’s Advocate was not included. The Documentary was ranked 35th among the Top 50 Albums of 2005 by Pitchfork Media.
For the breakthrough track “Hate It or Love It,” The Game received two Grammy nominations, including Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. The best hip-hop album of 2006, according to the New York Times, was Doctor’s Advocate. In 2008, he released his third album, LAX. The Game returned to the top of the Billboard 200 with his fourth studio album, The R.E.D. Album.

The Game has also acted in films and formed The Black Wall Street Records, in addition to music. The Game began production on Jesus Piece, his fifth studio album, in September 2011, and it was released on December 11, 2012, making it his final Interscope release. The Documentary 2 was released on October 9, 2015, and The Documentary 2.5 was released a week later on October 16.
On October 14, 2016, his new album 1992 was published, and two official singles were released. Born 2 Rap was his final studio album when it was released in 2019.
