In 1989, on the same day that his idol Keith Whitley passed away, McGraw dropped out of college and moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music. Tim began his stumbling stage in the early 1990s, during which he recorded a number of demo cassettes. He gave one to his father, who seemed to have some connections with Curb Records, and a meeting was scheduled. The executives at Curb Records were impressed with Tim’s tape, and he was promptly granted a recording deal.

Tim’s first single, titled ‘What Room Was the Holiday In,’ was published in 1991, however the song was not well received by the public. It was not successful in reaching the country music charts. It was released as the first single from his self-titled debut album, however the album failed to make an impression on both the reviewers and the fans upon its release. Because he had learned from his previous mistakes, Tim spent a long time to make his second album, which was published in 1994 under the title ‘Not a Moment Too Soon.

‘ The record was a huge hit from the get-go. Indian Outlaw, which was the album’s very first single and became one of the most talked-about songs of the year, for both good and negative reasons, was one of the most talked-about songs of the year. It won praise for its uniqueness and spirit, but it also drew criticism for being condescending to Native Americans. Nonetheless, the record went on to become a great smash despite the discrepancy. When the second single from the album was released, it quickly became Tim’s first no. 1 country record on a variety of country radio charts. The album sold more than 6 million copies worldwide and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 list.

The success expressed itself in honours such as the Album of the Year Award at the Academy Country Music Awards and the Top New Male Vocalist Award at the Academy Country Music Association Awards in 1994. When Tim released his third studio album, titled ‘All I Want,’ the record was a commercial triumph, building on the popularity of his previous two albums. Following that, it went on to debut at the top of various country music charts, including the Billboard 200, where it debuted at number six. “I Like It, I Love It,” the first song from the album released in 2011, reached number one on several country music charts across the world. The album ended up selling a total of 2 million copies worldwide.

Tim went on a countrywide tour in 1996 to promote his record, which was ultimately termed “the most successful country tour of the year” by Rolling Stone. Following the worldwide success of his album ‘Everywhere,’ Tim was finally recognised as the undisputed ruler of country music in the United States. Tim released his first greatest hits collection in 2000, and his tune ‘Let’s Make Love’ was nominated for his first Grammy award of his musical career the following year. With the release of his breakthrough album ‘Set This Circus Down’ in 2001, he helped to usher in the new century. The album included four songs, among a slew of others, that reached the top of the country music charts. After that, he continued to achieve new heights of popularity with albums such as “Like You Were Dying” and “Let It Go,” which helped to propel him to the top of the charts.
